  • 80. Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam: The Camp Strikes Back (with Special Guests Megan and Hannah)
Alright listeners, or should I say campers, It’s so great to see everyone back again for another fun filled summer. Wait what’s that? There’s a brand new camp opened across the lake now and we’ve somehow lost our entire staff to them and now we have to ask a bunch of campers to take their places? And we’ve been entered into a competition against the other camp too? Well then we better get to work and you better get ready to listen to us discuss the 2010 sequel to the 2008 DCOM hit, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. But just like last time we couldn’t discuss this movie alone so we’ve got returning campers Hannah and Megan to help us out again. Together we discuss vital topics such as Siphie Turber, Ella’s unseen character development, How Mitchie got so much power, and the cultural importance of Introducing Me. They also discuss some very timely Disney movie news. This episodes tangents include but are not limited to: Megan’s accomplishment, The wedding is imminent, Mom rants, a jakeblueart exclusive, Hot JoBro news, Our apologies to Jason Derulo, A splash of Michigan culture, Jakes promise, and Men and water. • 79. Den Brother: A Doubtfire Double Down
Integrity, fidelity, readiness. Now dear listeners can you tell us what those things have in common? Well of course they’re all apart of the code that every great girl scou… I mean bumble bee swears to by heart. So hopefully you can prove to us that you have what it takes to be a great Den Mother, even though you’re literally a teenage boy. That’s right everyone it’s time to score some goals and sell some cookies, or should I say muffins?, as we continue the year 2010 on the DCOM train by discussing Den Brother. Jake burdens Kate with knowledge of The Fosters, Kate dissects the depiction of a college professor, and both of them reveal their very tiny pasts with scouting. They also react to the news of a new Descendants movie coming in 2026. This episodes tangents include but are not limited to: Sorry about our lack in upload consistency lately, Wedding talk, Epic Universe talk, The Disney XD emergence, The extracurriculars we did as kids, 2010s Vampire culture, and the skills we did not have as 2nd graders. • 78. Starstruck: A Movie for the Pick Me Girls (with Special Guest Hannah)
Oh my god, are you guys okay? We so didn’t mean to hit you in the face with a door as we made a hasty exit to avoid the paparazzi. Wait what? You don’t care about who we are? Okay why are you just yelling at us now? If that lead in wasn’t enough to get you excited listeners than maybe the episode itself will be, because we are officially kicking off 2010 on the DCOM train with what is probably the most anticipated non-franchise DCOM that we’re going to discuss, Starstruck. But knowing us we couldn’t tackle all things Christopher Wilde alone so we brought in special guest Hannah to help us dissect this adaptation of many stories found on Wattpad. Jake discovers what a coogan account is, Kate recalls being lost in nature, and Hannah recounts a very snowy origin story with the premiere night of this movie, and all 3 of them discuss how this movie signals the beginning of the end of their time actively watching the Disney Channel. This episodes tangents include but are not limited to: Our Camp Rock accomplishment, Becoming a travel podcast, Our gripes with the wedding industry, We need AARP cards, Danielle Campbell’s real life Starstruck, Rental cars, Using the buddy system as only children, and our pitch for Starstruck 2. • 77. Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie: Back To The Future But With Magic
Well listeners, we were going to let you skip out on this episode and stay at a friends house but because you misbehaved again you gave us no choice. Pack your bags because now you’re definitely coming with us on a 2 week Caribbean vacation. Now would you believe me if I told you that that’s a punishment for one of the main characters in this movie? Because it is. Hopefully that introduction was enough to let you know that we’re finally finishing 2009 on the DCOM train by talking all about the movie based on the tv show about everyone’s favorite fictional magically family, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie. Jake discusses how this movie really doesn’t affect the rest of the show at all, Kate makes a bold claim about who the best fictional wizard is, and both of them question multiple of the wizarding worlds rules (or well lack of them). They also share their favorite memories of the show as a whole and discover that this may just be the Disney Channel they love the most. This episodes tangents include but are not limited to: Honeymoon wishes, Fashion walking, Our qualms with winter, Universal musings, Still being Wicked, A discussion of Disney Channel parents, Nickelodeon chatter, and What’s the deal with quicksand?Link to a spreadsheet with resources to help those affected by the California wildfires: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KMk34XY5dsvVJjAoD2mQUVHYU_Ib6COz6jcGH5uJWDY/edit?gid=0%23gid=0Follow the host’s Twitter: @jakeblue98 & @katescommentaryInstagram: jakeblueart & kvrandomFollow the podcast’s twitter: @TSOSNPodcast Follow the podcast Instagram: SomethingnewpodEmail us: [email protected] you’re listening on Apple Podcasts or Spotify feel free to leave a rating and review

Hear ye hear ye! Attention all podcast listeners, it is my greatest honor to present to you, the season 5 premiere of The Start of Something New! Wait hold on, there seems to be someone leading the worlds most peaceful and kid friendly coup against the kingdom, quickly we must send the season premiere to somewhere it will never be found. Hopefully that long winded intro helped tip you off that we’re starting 2025 by talking about the 2009 Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato lead DCOM classic, Princess Protection Program. Jake realized that this movie does not have its origin in a book, Kate discusses proper hamburger eating etiquette, and both of them discuss how weird it is to see certain topics be Disney-fied in this movie. This episodes tangents include but are not limited to: Welcome to 2025/Season 5, Wedding menus, A suit for Jake, Being total for real sports fans, The chokehold that Twilight had on the 2009 Teen Choice Awards, The ethics of commercializing a friendship, and bowling memories.
