  • Skyscraper Stan joins Dr Gonzo to introduce his album Those Were Days by Skyscraper Stan & The Commision Flats
Skyscraper Stan, the Kiwi musician based in Melbourne,  has spent the last decade honing his craft, traveling across America, and immersing himself in the live music scene. His passion for music began with his father’s record collection and grew as he discovered the social power of guitar playing at 16. He was drawn to country music's simplicity and sense of community, which encouraged collaboration with other musicians. The nickname "Skyscraper Stan," given to him by coworkers in Auckland for his tall, lanky stature, stuck as he began performing his own songs. His journey took him to the United States, where he lived a romanticised, adventurous life, train-hopping and living with the homeless community. Though his experiences could have inspired songs about America, Stan preferred to focus on his life in Australia, believing that personal and honest lyrics are most authentic when tied to one's own experiences.Stan’s previous releases include his debut album Last Year’s Tune, which showcased his blend of rock and roll with Southern American influences. His latest album, Those Were  Days, continues in that vein, offering more introspective lyrics and reflecting on his experiences in Melbourne. The new album, also with his band, The Commission Flats, captures his evolving sound and further cements his place in the Australian music scene. With its themes of love and personal struggles, Stan describes it as his proudest achievement to date.Skyscraper Stan joins Dr Gonzo to introduce his album Those Were  Days by Skyscraper Stan & The Commision Flats here on And This One’s Introduced By… Please support the artist and visit Skyscraper Stan's website HERE
