  • Soundsekerta 2018 Event Preview
SOUNDSEKERTA is back for 2018. The Monash University Indonesian Student Association (ISA) will present Soundsekerta 2018 “Serenade for The Nation”, a music festival that showcases the great country of Indonesia, home to many of the students. Soundsekerta has been running since 2007. The concept for the festival has changed throughout the years: it started as a comedy talk show, then evolving itself again and again to display art, music, food, but most of all, culture! "Serenade for the Nation" will be bringing you a wide-scale music festival and invites talents from various backgrounds. Moreover, this year’s Soundsekerta will deliver web series, where the finale will be performed LIVE as a mini-drama! You can also catch an original song competition and an MC talents competition. In this podcast, event organisers confirmed artists performing at Soundsekerta 2018 will be Raisa and Tulus, share a little on the history of the event and how people can book their tickets. • Melbourne's own Olivia Foy, is kicking goals in the country music scene.
Five years ago we were approached by a young girl by the name of Olivia Foy. Olivia told us of her passion for music and her love of Kpop groups. Fast forward to 2018 and we were excited to hear from the Melbournian again, this time informing us that she has found a love for county music and has released her debut EP. Based in Melbourne, Olivia is one of Australia's newest faces in Country Music. Having fallen in love with music from a young age, she knew that there was nothing else in the world that she wanted to pursue. Armed with her first guitar at 12 years old, she began her song writing and producing journey. Growing up, she looked up to artists such as Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood for inspiration. This ultimately led her to major in Music Technology at university, where she affectionately became known as "Asian Taylor Swift". It was in her final year at university that Olivia started working on her debut EP, which is due late 2018. The first single from her debut EP "Kiss Me" is out now and it has also been added to the Asian Pop Radio 24/7 radio stream. Make sure you head to your APP store now to download our APP and tune in for free. Listen to our interview with Olivia as she reflects on her music career so far and explains how she has come to love country music and the work she is doing to break into the challenging music market that it is. There may even be a little Kpop chatter in the mix, but you will just have to see for yourself. Want more Asian Pop Radio?
