• LOPSIDED: Panthers unable to keep up with the Avs speed and got boat raced in Denver

  On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) was joined by Nich Fairbanks(@Prudentia0) to break down the Panthers' 6-2 loss to the league-best Colorado Avalanche, where the cards were stacked against the Panthers before the game even started. With the Cats being on a second end of a back-to-back, Colorado coming off a loss from the last game of their road trip, and Florida dealing with injuries, it was the definition of a scheduled loss on the calendar where the Avs scored not even two minutes into the game thanks to their speed, although the Cats tied it up minutes later thanks to Noah Gregor, the goals off the rush did not stop, four of their six goals were due to quick transition opportunities. Down one going into the second, there was hope that the Panthers maybe could have tilted the ice back in their direction even though they gave up 20 shots on goal, but within the first seven minutes of the second, Colorado put those hopes to bed they knocked in two more, and it became quite the uphill climb. Florida's defense had to have played tight in their own end, but when the defense consistently misses on pinches and the opponent is able to get the puck of their stick quick, that can lead to leaving the goaltender (Tarasov) left to dry as they couldn't be comfortable in their own third of the ice. It could have gotten worse as a goal was taken off the board on an Avs PP as the second period was winding down. The Panthers also had a goal taken off the board as league initiated review determined that Eetu Luostarinen kicked the puck into the net in attempt to hit the breaks at the net front, but the game was already decided before then, when it rains, it pours. • EARNED: Panthers win after a dominant third period, breaking through with less than a minute left

  On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Alex Lopez(@CF3234) from Panther Pourri to break down the Cats 4-3 OT win over the Utah Mammoth to start off their road trip with two regulation points. It was a slow start as the Panthers did not get their first shot on net until they were short handed, and on two occasions, they had to start the second and third period on the penalty kill. Although they were up 3-1, two of Utah's three goals came on breakaway's due to a missed pinch and a line change that saw Dylan Guenther be ahead of the play, where he converted twice. The last odd man rush that the Cats gave up, provided what was likely the save of the game from Sergei Bobrovsky sliding from left to right to make the stop on his glove side on Clayton Keller. Sam Bennett and Carter Verhaeghe remained hot as Bennett scored twice and Verhaeghe continued his roll since becoming a dad, now five goals in his last four games. Once the third period hit and the Panthers drew a penalty of their own while on the PK, the tide officially turned where they got the first 11 shots in a four minute stretch. They did get another power play in the period and were in the Utah zone the entire time, but despite not scoring, it created the momentum that they needed to eventually convert. The conversion didn't come until less than a minute left when the Cats won a draw in their offensive zone, once the puck was dished to the far side corner, Sam Reinhart threw the puck on net, where a bounced found Anton Lundell parked near the blue paint and baseball swinging it to give them the lead with 52 seconds left. It took a while, but the Panthers were able to break through. • MUCH BETTER: Panthers end the Home stand on a 3-game point streak! Swaggy Daddy Verhaeghe stayed hot

  On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) is here to discuss the back-to-back weekend where the Panthers got two wins in two different ways, and they defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-6 in OT after being down three goals, in the second period and getting their first win when going into the third period trailing, while also scoring the second latest OT winner in franchise history in a game that they were chasing the entire time. They then followed it with shutting down the New York Islanders by a final of 4-1 where they got up 2-0 and never allowed the Isles to tie it. Two insurance goals in the third helped seal it while the Cats only gave up two SOG's in the third. Carter Verhaeghe stayed hot with a three-goal weekend, Eetu Luostarinen made his return to the lineup after being out due to an in home BBQ accident, and the lineup felt truly balanced again with their ability to roll their lines on the second end of the back-to-back. The bottom six were impactful although the accounting stats may not say so, and the Panthers ability to get their defense activated in the play was another key to four points, and it's now a three-game point streak before hitting the road. • NO INSURANCE: Power play failed to create separation as the Panthers came out with only one point

  On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Joey Ganzi(@Mister_Joester) to break down the Panthers 2-1 OT loss to the Nashville Predators, where the Panthers had the lead for the majority of the game, thanks to new dad Carter Verhaeghe., There were many opportunities to create insurance goals with six power play opportunities and even getting four short handed shots on goal. In a penalty filled game, the Cats couldn't take advantage, which cost them a point. Predators tied it 53 minutes into the game after a battle at the net front from Ryan O'Reilly. Panthers had a good amount of control in OT and it took Nashville over two minutes to finally get control, and on a transition play, Gustav Forsling slid into Sergei Bobrovsky and Nashville knocked it into a dislodged net to get the OT winner. Luck was on Nashville's side this time around as the Preds lost a game in that fashion just a few weeks ago.
