A modern epic that reaches back to classic stories to create something new. Worth reading as a tale in itself and as 20th century political worldview. Very heavy with themes of freedom vs. tyranny, adventure and home, leadership, loyalty, bravery, sacrifice, survival, and the importance of story and myth in fostering identity and hope.I go against the trend and recommend that 4th-6th graders not read this one, due to its intense, political themes. In my opinion, it’s more suitable to older teens. Just because it has rabbits doesn’t mean it’s for kids. However, one of my young daughters read it and she’s doing just fine.We have the Scribner Classics edition and it is beautiful! Get full access to Ars Libri at arslibri.substack.com/subscribe
